Russian ambassador Yuri Ushakov presents Maj. Patrick Poon with the highest honor awarded to non-Russian citizens, the Order of Friendship Medal, at the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006.

Major Poon and Navy Lt. Cmdr. Steven Smith received the medals for their actions associated with the rescue of a Russian submarine crew Aug. 7.
