One day as I was sitting in my home studio where I
record my songs, I had taken a break and while still
holding my guitar I began to think about the war that
was still going on in Iraq and the sacrifices that our
military men and women make every day for the freedoms
of this country.
I was also thinking of how there were a lot of people that were originally for the war and now against it. Wandering what our soldiers would think if they happened to hear about or even see through TV the way the country was divided on their opinions of the war. How would they feel and what would they think about the people they were risking their lives for everyday. Even taking it a step further I began to think how the families here in the US would feel about what was going on.
I understand people have a right to their own opinions, but I started thinking whether people agree with the war or not, they should always support our men and women serving this country whether it be in war times or peace times.
After all they enlist in the service not knowing if they will be called out to war or if the entire time they serve will be a time of peace. They are only doing the job they are called to do. It is not their fault.
With these thoughts going through my head I began to write down the words to the song "Thank You". I have always been very patriotic and a real student of US History. I know that our fore fathers who fought many battles for the freedom of this country were the start of it all and through out the history of time, it is because of all those military heroes that we have the freedoms that we have today. That includes the freedom to voice your own opinions about the US government, the war, or anything else. As we have seen there may be some consequences that go along with our opinions but you still have the freedom to
voice them. You won't be thrown in jail or
killed as in other countries.
The song is just a tribute to our heroes from the 1700's to the present day. My feelings are truly conveyed through the words of this song.
As I continued to write approximately a half hour later the song was complete. When the song comes to you that quick you know that it has been inspired.
To sum it all up whether you agree with war or not we must all stand in support of beloved troops."
About Kevin Swink... Kevin is a singer/songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland whose voice has been compared to Vince Gill by many of his peers. Kevin says "maybe the smooth delivery might remind you of Vince, but the tone of his voice is much higher." However his modern style of Country does emulate the Big Stars of today. With Kevin growing up in church and singing there since a young kid, he primarily has written Christian songs over the years.
Although his latest CD single is not considered to be Christian, he still feels that these 3 songs were inspired by God, and still touch the hearts of the people. Kevin feels that for a time, God has placed a call on his life to reach those men and women who serve our country in the Armed Forces as well as the veterans of this great country with his message of Thanks and Appreciation.
By performing at political fundraisers, and different events honoring the US Veterans, and our military, he is now starting to get his message out, as well as being able to promote himself as an artist. Kevin finds himself on a different mission today than he ever dreamed of, but it is a mission that he puts his whole heart into, because of the appreciation and respect that he has for those serving his country.
Moreover, Kevin is donating a portion of the proceeds from all CD sales to Operation First Response.
