Thomas (RedHeart) Peterson... I am a disabled
veteran. I wrote "U.S. Marine" on Memorial Day
(2009) about one of the heroic Marines that I recovered up in QuangTri Providence during the Vietnam War. I was a member of Graves Registration.

Lyrics
forty-four years ago he jumped off of that bus
at Parris Island wanting to follow his dream
that dream was to wear the globe n anchor on a
perfect fitting uniform one that was olive green
be an elite member one of a few good men
part of a mean green fighting machine
he was born to wear that Marine Corps uniform
he was a very proud young man
raised by God fearing folks
in a small town outside Lansing Michigan
he wanted to be a Marine
U.S. Marine
forty-four years ago he jumped off of that chopper
in a jungle while under a vicious attack
nervous and scared not knowing what his fate was
nor if he would ever be coming back
he was there to carry out a mission, fulfill his duty
and wasn't going to take no Viet Cong crap
he was born to wear that Marine Corps uniform
he was a very proud young man
raised by God fearing folks
in a small town outside Lansing Michigan
he wanted to be a Marine
U.S. Marine
[BREAK]
forty-four years ago he jumped on that grenade
while on patrol in the providence of Quang Tri
he saved seven mens lives from being blown away
he went beyond the call of duty with a show of bravery
he wanted to be a Marine
U.S. Marine
he wanted to be a United States Marine
