The Price of Peace is a great song that has a message of
love and support for any loved one in the military.
"I sat down one night and wrote it with my dad's help.
I didn't realize my dad knew so much about it until he started telling me
about the deployment ceremonies he has attended. He told me how the soldiers families and the children clutched their
soldier's and cried unashamed. This really hit home for me. I know
it has to be hard for any family to watch a loved one or a friend go
off to war. It is hard to understand how they feel everyday as they
wake up praying that their loved one is ok. When people listen to
this song I hope it moves them to a better understanding of what a
military family has to cope with. The song also tells how a family
sticks together and realizes God has a reason and purpose for all
things."

The full story about "The
Price of Peace"
The “Price of Peace” was written in early summer of 2008 by Alyssa
Gaddis after a discussion she had with her father, CW5 Jim Gaddis.
The discussion revolved around the large number of Soldiers that
were deployed overseas while their families were left behind. Alyssa
realized that it was probably as hard on the families as it was on
the deployed Soldiers. Her dad gave her a pad of paper and told her
to write down how she felt and the lyrics of The Price of Peace were
born.
The family knew that the lyrics had merit so they enlisted the
co-writing assistance of a Nashville writer, Hart Steen. Hart added
the music and recorded a basic track to the lyrics. After a few
discussions with some members of the IL Employee Support of the
Guard and Reserves about the song, State Farm agreed to sponsor the
recording. State Farm provided funding for the recording and
production of the song.
The song was recorded in Nashville TN at Creative Caffeine Studio in
late September. The production timeline was compressed to one day of
studio time to minimize costs and to lessen the impacts of missing
school for the girls.
The song is being distributed via the internet at
www.thepriceofpeace.org both in digital and cd formats. Profits
from the song will be donated to Family Readiness Groups and local
VFWs for families in need.
