"I was doing a Memorial Service for a fallen soldier, and wanted a song fitting for all soldiers that had made the ultimate
sacrifice that we may continue to enjoy our freedoms. I wanted an appropriate song that would honor all our fallen heroes from all wars and all generations. And that is how A Soldiers Prayer came to be." DannyB
LYRICS
We were all once soldiers, brothers till the end Sent
to fight in foreign lands, For freedom to defend
Now as we stand here silent, looking at these graves
Of those who gave their lives That freedom may be
saved
As I kneel down beside them, I close my
eyes to share And softly I pray, to God, our
soldier's prayer
We pray for peace, for all In
the conflicts and the wars We ask for Your guidance,
in these battles on foreign shores May Your grace be
here to protect us From hate, anger and greed And
for those lives that are taken In Your hands I pray,
they will be
For those names on these stones
Who have paid for freedom's cost We are here to give
them honor For their lives that were lost
For
those of us who've returned And remember those who
died, It still fills our hearts with sorrow As
tears fall from our eyes
As I kneel down beside
them, I close my eyes to share And softly I pray, to
God, our soldier's prayer
We fight for peace, for
all In the conflicts and the wars We pray for Your
guidance, in these battles on foreign shores May Your
grace be here to protect us From hate, anger and
greed And for those lives that are taken In Your
arms I pray, they'll always be
