Amanda Jane's Own
Words..."What
inspired me to write this song was the frustration that
while we are all here in the states arguing over the issue
of war and whether the war should be happening or not, our
men and women in uniform are courageously moving forward day
by day.
I wanted to write something that was
from the viewpoint of a US Troop in Iraq fighting for us
knowing that we are at odds over the war back home. I
wanted to dig in deep to try to offer
a first-hand look to listeners of what it takes to be doing
what they are doing."
Lyrics of "American
Pride (A Soldier's Tribute)"
I've seen where the
moonlit sky
meets hills of fire
and I've seen where the people rise from pain
to be fighters
My armor's on-this suit's become my home
the battle lines are all set on go
and even though they're torn in half back home
I'm gonna fight down to the bone
CHORUS
Just give me some time
to release my inner fears
I saw Hell today
and unleashed it
Just give me some time
there isn't much to spare
but I'll keep movin' on
oh I'll keep movin' on
with American Pride
I've seen where angels tread
on death-filled waters
and I've seen the eagle's eye in pain
Streets of sand-there's no permanent roads
see-no one leaves a trail
and I do what I'm told
and even though they're torn in half back home
I'm gonna fight down to the bone
CHORUS
I've seen rows of bodies layin' in final stillness
and I've seen the relief of burden on that child's face
(when I saved her)
I didn't choose-didn't know it would come to this
I only dreamt-dreamt of a world of bliss
but even though they're torn in half back home
I'm gonna fight down to the bone
CHORUS |
