Richard "Ricky" Gilleland III
Seventeen year-old (11th grade) Ricky Gilleland's remarkable patriotic effort with PreserveandHonor.com speaks for itself!
Ricky, who is the great, great, great grandson of a soldier who fought at Gettysburg . . . created PreserveandHonor.com to provide a virtual place for loved ones and friends to both locate the graves of the fallen and reflect on the memory of their sacrifice . . . striving to create an accurate and continually updated listing of the burials at Arlington National Cemetery for those who served in the Global War on Terror. And Ricky Gilleland (photo above) does so himself, which includes taking the thousands of photos for the archive.
PreserveandHonor.com was also inspired by the words of President Lincoln that were in a letter to a war widow... Lincoln wrote, "I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom."
