Always Remember Our Fallen Brave May 9, 2006 With Memorial Day just three weeks away, I found myself thinking about all those who share this special day of remembrance for a fallen loved one, whether it is still so very recent or those who were lost in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. And that includes my mother, who lost her twin brother in Normandy a few weeks after D-Day. They were barely 18 years old. (Visualizing my mother learning of this heart wrenching news always makes me want to give her a protective, comforting hug.) Nor should we ever forget what all these brave heroes did for their fellow citizens and the USA. They paid the ultimate sacrifice so we could enjoy all that we value as Americans. So, please honor all of our fallen troops by proudly displaying the flag on Memorial Day and consider donating to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund or another charity that provides for loved ones of the fallen in Iraq and Afghanistan. Moreover, reading my poems, Honoring The Fallen and Tears For Your Fallen, will give you a sense of how this father of a Marine felt when his youngest son was serving in Iraq . . . and for all those troops who did and will sadly fall. (You can find more poems about Memorial Day in the USA Patriotism! Military category including Memorial Day by James H. Lee Jr.) Finally, I hope you will take a few minutes to share your feelings about the fallen and all the troops at Patriotic Thoughts ... Just imagine how you would feel if it was you serving to read words of thanks, praise, and support from fellow citizens and patriots! May God continue to watch over our brave troops and great country! David G. Bancroft Founder / Owner USA Patriotism! Copyright 2006 |
