Luck of America
By David G. Bancroft, USA Patriotism! Founder / Owner - March
20, 2016
While my wife
and I were proudly enjoying (quietly without green beer) the
Irish part of our respective family ancestry on St. Patrick's
Day (March 17, 2016) ... my thoughts drifted to the upcoming Presidential
election ... and missing the civility that was present in the
past ... even during Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter vying for
the Presidency.
Then there is the concern about honesty intent
.... as it should be about ... what is best for our country's
security (defensively and economically) ... not what is best for
political purposes regardless of the long-term consequences that
don't appear to be based on any facts (current or historical).
Is it just cleverly veiled wishful thinking?
Now, with that
said ... we do live in the USA ... and it is "We The People" who
ultimately determine the direction of our nation ... even if it
... takes several national elections ... before the majority of
voters make it so!
More importantly ... our great nation has
always stood the test of time ... becoming very diverse and
enriched ... since the Founding Fathers signed America's
foundational document ... the Constitution.
There are so many
bedrock reasons why the Untied States of America has endured and
overcame every internal struggle and external conflict ...
making it only better ... remaining ... "a shining city upon
a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people
everywhere"
... and as the most powerful nation .... coming to the aid and
defense of others in need without the intent to suppress or
conquer ... always ready to defend the way of life that each
American has the right to enjoy ... as given by the
Constitution.
Nor can anyone honestly look back on America's
history from a present day mindset ... and blame anyone today
... for the sad injustices ... that did occur ... as history
also shows that these wrongs were eventually righted ... even at
the loss of a generation of young men, who would have never felt
the sting of death ... from a fellow American ... if their time
was like today .... and not fostered by pass down prejudicial
culture that too many leaders were of the same.
In fact, the
founding of USA Patriotism! shortly after terrorists attacks on
September 11, 2001 was based on fostering pride of America by
her citizens and a better understanding about the USA from
citizens of other countries ... underscored by the Constitution
and Bill of Rights ... without political intent or content.
So, St. Patrick's Day is really more than just celebrating
the "luck of the Irish" ... it should also be a proud
reminder of the "Luck of America" ... that we officially
celebrate annually on July 4th.
There are so many reasons too
... and none more important than those ... who made the
ultimate sacrifice in defending the USA ... along with all
the
heroes
who went beyond the call of duty placing fellow troops and
country above themselves.
The
video
below
of Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Edward C. Byers Jr., a member
of east coast based SEAL team, receiving the Medal of Honor from
President Barack Obama during a White House ceremony, February
29, 2016 ... is a proud, moving reminder of how lucky America
and Her citizens are for heroes like him!. (Byers received the award for his actions
while serving as part of a team that rescued an American
civilian held hostage in Afghanistan in December 2012.)
Along with the freedom of speech, religion, and other
rights ... is being able to enjoy the majesty of the USA ...
freely crossing state lines to enjoy your freedom to do so ...
